Hi Friends! Welcome to the month of August!
This past month I planned out our 2024-2025 school year for my 4th grader, 3rd grader and preschooler. I always love sitting down to do some planning even though we don't always accomplish all the things I have planned. I planned out some fun field trips and read aloud's for the year as well as mapped out our core subjects.
This year I'm using the A Simple Plan Homeschool Planner. I plan out the curricula we are using with their subject planner pages, and decide how many days per week we'll do each subject, but I leave the weekly lesson plans section blank. I "reverse plan" and write everything down as we do it so that I don't write out the whole year's plan and then we have a sick day and everything is "off schedule". This gives me more peace throughout the year.
Also, I had the pleasure of meeting Sarah MacKenzie from the Read Aloud Revival earlier this month, as well! Her book Teaching From Rest is one of my favorites! I love that it's a short read but also packed with wisdom! I plan on reading through most of her monthly reading lists with my kiddos again this year. We did this a few years ago with my older two, but my younger two don't remember it so we are going to do it all again! This is a great way to pack in the reading time for our 182.5 Reading Challenge!
As we look forward to the new month of August, I see a lot of people starting to get back to school! If you are more organized than me and like to take back to school pictures then this Back-To-School Printable Sign might be just for you! We ended up starting school a week ago because we will take a couple weeks off once baby #5 gets here sometime in September.
I can't believe we're so close to adding another precious baby to our family! This summer has been so hot that I have been having to take extra precautions to stay hydrated. Liquid IV has been my go-to first thing in the morning to make sure I stay ahead of the game.
This past month our website got a full REDESIGN! Personally, I'm loving the new layout and the ease of finding things. There are a couple of new pages that I'm still working on in the background like the Shop My Favorite Products page, but I'm hoping to have that completed by the end of August. Because my focus went into the redesign I didn't get as many new posts up as I wanted to, but here are a few recents that are preschool related!

What I'm currently reading! |
|
Each month I highlight a book that I'm reading. This month it's a fiction book called Just Once By Karen Kingsbury.
I really love Karen's writing style. She has the ability to tell a story like you're sitting next to a good friend just catching up on life. This one is fun because it ties into her other series about The Baxter Family.
Do you have a book suggestion for mama's you'd like me to read/and then share about? Simply hit "Reply" and let me know which book you recommend!
